A holiday evergreen wreath can brighten up your house light with just a few found items and an inexpensive form. I used holly and princess pine for the evergreen materials. The wreath form was purchased for $1 at the Dollar Store, the hanger was found in a closet in my home, the garden wire at a craft store and the outdoor material was left over from a earlier project.
Working with holly you need to be aware of it’s toxic properties if ingested. It can be very poisonous to pets. Dispose of the remaining holly in a safe place. I would not want a neighborhood dog to pick it up and decide to make it a chew toy.
Princess pine is a ground cover plant and is native to North America. If you choose to collect princess pine for your wreath please harvest it from a well established grove. This is a slow growing evergreen and if over harvested the grove will not continue to flourish.
let’s get crafting
Take your wire hanger and stretch out the base leaving the hook in place. Cover the hook in a layer of outdoor material to avoid damaging your light fixture. Go outside and place your hanger on the light fixture to figure out where to attach the wreath form. Lash your wreath to the hanger with garden wire.
I used the advice of the Fru-Gals on how to assemble the princess pine wreath. Gathering 4-6 sprigs together, binding with wire and strapping it to the wreath. Attach the bunches of princess pine to fill in the wreath until the form is covered.
I snipped off branches of holly and tucked them in among the princess pine using the extra wire to secure if needed. Tie wired ribbon to form a bow. Add embellishments of berries or other greenery to suit your taste.

What a great wreath!

Thanks Alison the structure of the branches really lends itself to full wreaths.

One of the things I find super interesting at this time, in other countries are the natural embellishments. This example of natural plant, the natural pine also, and this is very good .. Here in Brazil it is custom to buy synthetic pine and this only contributes to the increase of garbage in the cities but an item that take time to decompose.

Yes I enjoyed using the natural foliage and at the end of the season I can take off the sprigs and re-use the form!
